Challis Public Library maintains a large children’s book section. The Library also has a youth book section with longer selections of interest to older students. For those in the Challis area, the Library supports literacy and love of reading and learning by offering summer and school-year programs for youth and children. These programs include:
- Summer Reading Program – Challis Public Library supports literacy for youth by offering a summer reading program. During the summer kids enjoy books and fun activities as part of the program.
- STEM Program (schedule will change during the summer) – From 4:30 until 6:30 on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) activities are offered for school age children. A small snack is provided.
- Preschool Story Time – A story time for ages 0 to 4 years old is offered on Tuesdays at 1:00 pm for a half hour.
- Story Times (during the school year) – On Fridays from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm, ages 4 to 6 may attend a story and craft time. On Fridays from 12:30 pm to 1:30 pm, ages 7 to 10 may attend a story and craft time.
