About Us

The Challis Public Library is a city tax-funded library which has been serving the community of Challis for over 30 years.  We have a collection of fiction and non-fiction materials of more than 16,000 items.  Among our collection, you will also find a wonderful selection of books on Idaho. Additionally, we have over 500 VHS/DVD recordings and 250 audio books and recordings to choose from. We also now offer over 2,600 downloadable audio books!

The Challis Public Library has a public access computing area consisting of four online computers with touchscreen options and one computer which stores our digital catalog.  We also offer a children's computer with a number of learning programs installed.  This computer is located within the children's section of the library.

The Challis Public Library supports our community in many ways, including programs designed to help our community's youth and adults achieve success in their education by partnering with Eastern Idaho Technical College to support Adult Basic Education (GED) in Challis. We offer the children of our community two reading programs that take place during the school year and summer months.

See the Hours and Directions page for information on times and location.
